Apart from the hot and vivid summer period Paralio Astros remains active throughout the year winning its visitors with its traditional taverns, seaside cafe-bars and the special geography of the landscape, which is ideal for a variety of sports.
The village displays several beautiful cycling routes suggested for athletic training. An annual triathlon race was recently established in Paralio Astros as well. ‘Astroman’ takes place in May including cycling up to Arcadian Village. For less athletic types the 10-km-long beach presents a great opportunity for walking either in the sand or along the shore street.
Thanks to the gentle terrain topography of the half village visitors can indulge in various further group sports. Children and teenagers can easily exercise basketball in the school yard as well as football (soccer) and tennis in the village’s dirt field near Atsinganos beach. Inland Astros (about 5’ by car) also offers a playing field with synthetic material for football (soccer) and a private court for 5x5.
Paralio Astros is a perfect location for hobbyists in modeling and gliders. R/C helicopters, quadcopters, airplanes and cars appear in the clear blue sky during Modelteam visits, while other individuals spend interesting moments of creation and fun practicing their hobby.
Studios Maria guests can travel for a day-trip to Tegea village named Alea for enjoying a riding experience. Tripoli Riding Club is about 34 km from Paralio Astros (about 40’) and provides special horses and a trainer for children. Less sportive visitors can generally choose milder activities travelling around mountainous Arcadia and its picturesque villages, tasting unique traditional food and pilgrimaging to convents, monasteries and churches.
